Мы так долго стояли на краю пропасти, что стали называть этот край родным (с)
"When sitting and working, a steady stream of beauty helps a lot, so I think I understand where this is coming from. When we try to put our minds (and bodies) to use in order to get some output, they need input, fuel to keep them going. We’re in possession of pretty potent machinery, or at least those of us who aren’t complete dumbasses à la myself are in possession of some pretty potent machinery, but the limits of those tools are what make us human. We’re not a perfect little computer who will read texts and analyse, or run and carry, without question until our tasks are done, we’re a messy chunk of self-decided matter constantly looking for identity and meaning. In order to make our machines function, they need some intent, some bigger end goal we’ve got at the back of our mind while working or while starting to work, and I think that’s the role beauty fulfils. Makes us want to think and do and live. Puts in so that we can put out. Of course it’s easier to read through a boring ass medieval monk’s worldview when I’ve got Schubert in my earphones like a soft little cushion to fall back on. I don’t blame these people for trying to thrive off beauty in order to allow their brains to live, but I think it’s important not to forget the output bit. Beauty is the means, not the end goal, it’ll leave us hungering for more".
